Terms Of ServiceLast updated: 22 April 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of britfarmers.com (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. About BritFarmers — Terms Of Service

BritFarmers is an independent publication operated personally by Tim Harfield, a full-time UK farmer based in Suffolk, England. BritFarmers is not a registered company and is not affiliated with Defra, AHDB, the NFU, or any other trade body or government agency.

The Site publishes free farming guides, news, grants information, and market updates for UK farmers. There are no paywalls, memberships, or user accounts.

2. Acceptable Use

When using the Site you must not:

  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers, or AI training systems) to access, collect, or download content from the Site without prior written permission.
  • Attempt to compromise the security of the Site, access restricted areas, or interfere with its normal operation.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any other harmful code.
  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it.
  • Reproduce, republish, or redistribute Site content in a manner that misrepresents its source.

3. Intellectual Property

All original content, design, code, graphics, and the BritFarmers name and logo are the property of Tim Harfield and are protected by UK and international copyright laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or commercially exploit any part of the Site without prior written permission.

Short quotations for the purposes of review, commentary, or news reporting are permitted under fair dealing, provided BritFarmers is clearly credited and a link to the original article is included.

Where the Site references or links to third-party sources (such as Defra, AHDB, the NFU, gov.uk, or other publications), those materials remain the property of their respective owners and are used under fair dealing or with appropriate credit.

4. Farming Advice Disclaimer

Information published on BritFarmers — including articles, guides, grant summaries, weather outlooks, and market commentary — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute professional agricultural, veterinary, agronomic, legal, financial, or tax advice.

Farming decisions carry real financial, environmental, and welfare consequences. Always consult qualified professionals, official scheme documentation, and your own advisers before making decisions about your farm, livestock, crops, finances, or compliance with regulations. Grant eligibility, payment rates, and scheme rules change frequently — confirm current details with the relevant authority (Defra, the Rural Payments Agency, AHDB, or your devolved administration) before acting.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components, nor that information on the Site is complete, accurate, or current at the time you read it.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of BritFarmers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Site. This includes, without limitation, loss of profits, data, crops, livestock, or business opportunity, whether arising in contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales.

7. Third-Party Links and Advertising

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, and displays advertising served by third-party networks. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site or advertiser. Following external links is at your own risk.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of BritFarmers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Site or your violation of these Terms.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
